Jim “Indo” Indelicarto began his photographic journey in 1968 when he found and old plastic Kodak 110 camera in the attic of his parents’ home. Making colorful pictures of flowers instantly became a passion which progressed to high school yearbook photojournalism and into college sports.

By 1979, Jim decided that he wanted to take his photography beyond amateur. With no formal education, he was willing to sweep floors in order to learn the ropes at a reputable portrait studio. After four years of study at West Virginia University, and many Saturdays spent assisting wedding photographers, Jim was offered a partnership in a high volume studio in the Philadelphia area.

Zachary Photographic Gallery was born in 1986, dedicating itself to low-volume, service-oriented creative wedding photography and wedding day planning.

After eight years of photographic study, print submissions, and lecturing, Jim was awarded the degree of “Master Photographer” from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the largest International organization of image makers in the world. He went on to earn the “Craftsman” degree and also became Certified (CPP).

Jim believes in giving back after taking from: he has served on the Board of Directors for the Guild of Professional Photographers of the Delaware Valley for many years and was elected 1994 president for the association. Devoting professional guidance and teaching to others in the industry continues to be important. In the summer of 1999 Jim was invited to speak at the PPA National Convention in Atlanta – an invitation only offered to thirty-eight speakers worldwide that year.

In addition to receiving many blue ribbons in Local, State, Regional, and National print competitions, two of Jim’s images have been selected for the PPA traveling loan collection, one of these portraits entitled “Light of My Life” was also given the coveted Kodak Gallery Award and was also chosen for exhibit at Disney’s Epcot Center. Finally this image was printed as a full-page in Martha Stewart’s Living magazine Wedding Edition by PPA to promote professional photography.
